"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13)

 

This scriptural resolution has been evident in the life of our Senior Pastor, Steven J. Turner, since his meager beginnings.  He was born the first of four sons in Shelby County, TN on November 23, 1958.  

 

After graduating from Westwood High School in 1977, Pastor Turner enlisted in the United States Navy where he earned the rank of Quarter Master 2nd class.  

 

Pastor Turner accepted his ministerial calling in 1980 at the Herald of His Coming Church of God In Christ Norfolk, Va., and was ordained by his pastor, the late Rev. James L. Netters, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church-Westwood.  

 

He became the pastor of Pentecostal Missionary Baptist Church in 1999.  His inaugural sermon was a message of prophecy for this faith-filled congregation.  Under his leadership, Pentecostal Missionary Baptist Church ministries have flourished and the church membership has grown and continues to grow by the grace of God.

 

Over the years, the word of God has impacted hundreds of souls.  He desires to know and continue to grow in the ministry that God has so favored him.  The call of God to shepherd his people prompted Pastor Turner to pursue advanced

theological studies at Missouri Baptist College.

 

Pastor Turner’s fulfillment of his calling to the ministry has not been limited to his work in the Church. Through various occupations and appointments, he has extended his services to the development of young people and the growth of the Memphis community.  He also received several grants from the late Rep Lois Deberry. These grants allowed training which enabled the youth of the city to become

more computer literate.

 

Pastor Turner has also ministered in the state and local prisons, preaching and teaching the word of God.  Because of his dedicated work in the community and commitment to the people whom God has placed in his care, Pastor Turner has received many honors.  One of His favorite sayings is “God is not whom you think He is, but He is whom He says He is”.

 

He recently retired from FedEx Corp. as a Security Data Analyst. Pastor Turner is also the CEO of Turn-Around Ministries, Turn-Around Tours, Turn-Around Lawn Care, and Destiny Connections Inc., a Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

 

Pastor Turner is married to Cloreinda Turner and has three lovely daughters India, Aqila, and Kayla, and two adorable grandsons, Cannon Micheal Ellis

and Idris Alex Mills.
